Before installing Drupal on your PC, you should firstly install the web server which is xampp. The version of xampp you are suggested to use is the 1.7.0. Older version than that is not suitable for the Drupal 7. After you have the xampp program, I will guide you on how to use Drupal 7.1.2. Check these out!
Using the Latest Version of Drupal
First of all, open folder C, then find xampp folder. Inside, click htdocs which later guides you to Drupal file. Extract it in the place which you usually use. Feel free to rename the Drupal 7 file according to your needs. After renaming and extracting the file, place your cursor on the address bar to type http:/localhost/your preference for Drupal name. If you have finished doing it, you will later see some menus, and one of them is standard. Click the standard option and do not forget to save the change to proceed to the next step.
Next, choose the language you want or just click the default language to run the Drupal in English. Again, always remember to click ‘Save and Continue’ button. The next progress is to create a database configuration. Before making it, we are acquired to set the database on phpmyadmin program. Open Mozilla Firefox or other browsers to go to localhost/phpmyadmin. In ‘Create New Database’, type the name of the database which is uberchart. After you click ‘create’, the database has been automatically made. Close the phpmyadmin page and go back to the Drupal installation.
Choose either MySQL, equivalent, or others as your database. Type ‘uberchart’ as your database name, then fill ‘root’ in your database username. If you want to protect your Drupal using password, just fill in the space with passwords which each web server provided. If not, then just leave it blank. After you have saved the change, the Drupal installation will be started.
You will be notified if the installation has been completed. After it is finished, complete the Configuration Site with a site name, your website name for the Drupal page. Then, email address for the site, user name to login as the administrator, username’s email, password, default country, default timezone, and finally save them all. If you want to open your Drupal page, click ‘Visit your New Site’. Congratulations! Your Drupal 7 has been created successfully!
