This post may will bored you who familiar with internet technology but I would like to discuss about dedicated server from A – Z. It is mean I have to begin from the most basic information which means I will start on what a server is.

A server, in computer terms, is a system which connected to multiple computers – called customers. This connection allows access to files or e-mail between many devices. A server could be a set of computers, networked to other computer and provide them some sort of service. Server also may a particular program or a set of disks for storing data or any other type of device. A server is not necessarily a computer.

Server technology is continuously improving which is the impact of the increasing number of internet usage. This has enabled the reduction in the use of mainframes.

What is a Mainframe

Mainframe is like a big computer, with a lot of processors, serving to support the main processors.  It can work with large volumes of information and a great speed, allows data processing of thousands of users who may be connected to it, either directly or via a network, always with an extreme level of security. A mainframe has the capacity to perform tasks requiring a lot of information, available from internal or external to your system, such as large database, for example, credit cards, bank accounts, airline tickets, among many others.

Banks and universities are examples where you can find this type of equipment. They have the advantage of allowing the use of older programs and be compatible with other more recent programs.
PC servers and Unix servers, have been replacing the mainframe, since they have a very high cost, take up much space and require special conditions of refrigeration.

What is a Dedicated Server

A dedicated server, also known as a web hosting server or dedicated server hosting is a set of systems with certain features, designed for the type of function to perform, which can be presented to house files, emails, forums or webpages. Besides the high security and privacy of information, a dedicated server also allows a high performance management of all its contents. It also has high security, such as generators themselves, in case of power failure and qualified personnel for their maintenance. A dedicated server is always running and is attached to a high-speed connection to a company or a data center (data center).

Anyone can set up their own servers. But have their disadvantages, especially with regards to stability, with regards to speed of obtain and include information and also the level of performance.
